The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center is looking for a new team member. The Director of Client Services is responsible for ensuring high-quality service through the management and leadership of the Client Services Department. This multidisciplinary team provides direct services in multiple languages to clients, advocates for system and policy change, and does outreach to, and collaborates with, other providers who serve survivors of sexual violence.  

Currently there are 11 staff, 7 graduate level interns, and nearly 90 volunteers in  4 programs in Client Services: individual and group counseling, medical accompaniment and advocacy, hotline, legal advocacy and case management.  Responsibilities include direct supervision of 6 staff, development of the team, programmatic oversight and vision, contract compliance and reporting, the development and maintenance of evaluation strategies and measures; and developing relationships with community partners. The Director of Client Services is part of the senior management team.  

The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years of management experience in a non-profit social service, advocacy or health care agency. Must have proven track record of building a multi-disciplinary team, making program improvements to improve clients' experience,  and new program development to reach new populations. SEX OFFENDER PROGRAM SPECIALIST

The incumbent of this position functions as a Sex Offender Program Specialist within a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility, FMC Devens. He/she is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical psychological services to inmates in the Sex Offender Program (SOP). The incumbent's principal function is that of a provider of treatment and/or behavioral management services for the SOP. The specialist may provide direct services from a unit-based residential treatment program within the facility, which houses and serves offenders, or to inmates participating in nonresidential sex offender treatment or management services. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of assessment instruments and procedures, including specialized sex offender specific instruments, under the supervision of a doctoral level psychologist. He/she is required to review data from direct interviews with participants and records containing social, educational, personal, and institutional adjustment information, to assist in preparing or contribute to reports for various uses. These reports include behavioral management reports or plans to manage risk in the institution or community; discharge reports on offenders releasing to the community; pre-certification review cases on inmates under consideration for petition of certification as a sexually dangerous person; and clinical case management documentation on inmates participating in program components of the SOP. The incumbent performs both individual and group psychotherapy with sex offenders on a regularly scheduled basis under the supervision of a doctoral level psychologist. The incumbent conducts psycho- educational groups for sex offenders. He/she also conducts a wide variety of interviews with sex offenders and other inmates on an as- needed, unscheduled basis. He/she identifies deficiencies and excesses in inmates' patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior and recommends or devises steps to re-mediate them. He/she is responsible for developing treatment plans and tracking the treatment progress of program participants. The specialist also plans aftercare programs for inmates releasing to halfway houses and the community. The incumbent advises the SOP Coordinator on issues of program content, selection and expulsion of inmates, scheduling of groups, training opportunities, purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies, and other issues relevant to the overall operation of the program. He/she provides program orientation lectures to inmates as a part of the institution's Admissions and Orientation Program. The specialist attends meetings with other program staff to share information, knowledge, ideas, and recommendations. The incumbent learns and applies new assessment and treatment techniques for helping inmates overcome psychological problems. Incumbent educates other prison staff about psychological problems, behavioral management strategies, and the SOP. He/she writes reports relevant to inmates' histories of psychological problems and their progress in treatment. The incumbent keeps accurate records of activities performed in the specialty program. He/she enters and retrieves information from the Psychology Data System network to assure an efficient operation of the program. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Salary Range: $56,824.00 - $73,874.00

Sex Offender Program Psychologist


Additional Duty Location Info:  3 vacancies - FMC Devens 
Responsible for the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological testing instruments and procedures, including objective instruments of personality assessment, risk assessment instruments and procedures, intelligence and cognitive tests, neuropsychological assessment instruments, and inventories of interest, aptitude, criminality and achievement. Administers and interprets specialized, sex offender specific assessment instruments and procedures.  Based on data from testing, interviewing, and records containing social, educational, personal, and institutional adjustment data, the incumbent is responsible for preparation of psychological reports for various uses.
These include:

- Behavioral management reports or plans to manage risk in the institution or community through the imposition of specific restrictions on personal property and/or contact
with the public.

- Discharge reports for U. S. Probation to assist in the effective management of sex offenders while on supervised release.

- Precertification review cases on inmates under consideration for petition of certification as a sexually dangerous person.

- Psychological and psychosexual evaluation of inmates participating in treatment components regarding inmate needs in therapeutic intervention for the treatment of psychological
problems. Refers inmates with medical problems to the Medical Officer, plans the course of therapy for psychological problems, and develops treatment discharge reports detailing
risk assessment considerations.

- Periodic appraisal of changes in the attitudes, personality, dynamics, and overall level of adjustment of inmates resulting from participation in institution and unit programs.

- Reports for the Parole Commission of personality strengths and liabilities of inmates at the time they appear for parole consideration. Responsible for making recommendations for
aftercare should the inmate be paroled.

Communicates the results of assessment to institutional staff and representatives of the criminal justice system to assist in the overall management of sex offenders in Bureau of Prisons' facilities and in the community. The incumbent may be called to testify on professional opinions to federal courts.

Performs both individual and group psychotherapy with sex offenders on a regularly scheduled basis. Incumbent also conducts a wide variety of interviews and crisis intervention sessions
with sex offenders and other inmates on an as-needed, unscheduled basis.

Serves as a source of expert advice and opinion, and demonstrates knowledge of research techniques and findings as relevant to the area of the evaluation and treatment of sex offenders. Serves as a consultant to colleagues and all other institution staff on
behavioral management strategies. Trains institution and unit staff on how to effectively manage sex offenders in a correctional environment.

Responsible for providing assessment and referral services for staff referred to Psychology Services by their supervisors or for staff personally requesting assistance with problems of
alcohol use, drug use, or emotional problems which are affecting job performance.

Participate in research and program evaluation projects of a national nature, under the general direction of the Central Office Psychology Administrator in coordination with the Office
of Research and Evaluation.

PSYCHOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL TRAINEE

The applicant will work in the Sex Offender Treatment/Management Program located at FMC Devens, MA. Duties of the position will require that the applicant have a basic working knowledge of and/or experience in the area of sexual deviance. As the selected trainee will conduct risk assessments for violent and/or sexual recidivism, familiarity with actuarial risk assessment instruments would be helpful. As a member of an interdisciplinary team with at least two hours per week of supervision by a licensed, doctoral level psychologist, the incumbent provides professional psychological services within his/her specialty area. Specific services might include, but are not limited to: diagnostics or assessments, therapy or treatment, research or program evaluation, and inservice training. The incumbent aids staff in formulating programs for inmates and/or staff. The incumbent conducts and/or aids in staff training and consults with staff at all levels regarding treatment, training , and research within his/her specialty area. CLINICAL PROGRAM MANAGER

Treatment Modality: All approved therapists shall be trained on CPC's "R.U.L.E. Model" of treatment intervention which is based on an integrated model of treatment. Providers will also be trained on administrative requirements related to this position. Treatment groups consist of 10-12 offenders who meet weekly for 11/2 to 2 hours.
